Three-reel slots are considered to be retro, and even though most modern slots have at least five reels or more, there is a large number of players who still appreciate the good old three-reel slots. Red Hot Wild slots is one of the three-reel slots that will definitely amuse you. In fact, it can be said that Scientific Games have reinvented the three-reel slots and Red Hot Wild slots just one of the three-reel games produced by them.

Red Hot Wild Overview

Ever since Barcrest was purchased by Scientific Games, the latter became even more renowned and recognisable in an otherwise very competitive market. Red Hot Wild slot was released in the summer of 2016 and it immediately caught the eye of all lovers of retro games. Despite the fact that Red Hot Wild slot is a three-reel game with five paylines, it doesn’t mean that the game is too simple, or that there are no options, because there are few interesting features, quite unusual for a slot game with only three reels and five paylines.

The reels seem to be placed on a background of a blazing fire and otherwise the game is visually quite straightforward. The symbols look simple and retro, and even the symbols themselves are symbols which you can see on the reels of old retro games from the 1980s. This is hardly surprising, considering that Barcrest has produced dozens of popular land-based one-armed bandits over the years.

The sound effects are also quite retro, there’s no music, only simple sound effect when you click on spin and additional effects when you hit a winning combination.

How To Play Red Hot Wild

This game features five ways to win and all paylines are always active, regardless of how much you’ve wagered. You can adjust your stake via the plus and minus buttons placed above and below the stake/line amount, respectively. You must wager at least 2p per payline which equals 10p for the overall stake, whereas the maximum amount that you can wager per payline is £100, for a grand total of £500.

Below the stake/line field, on the left side of the reels, you will see a field that displays the total stake, another field for the lines (always five) and below there’s a field that displays your balance (bankroll). On the right you will see few buttons, a change button which you can use to change the wild symbol. The change button is above the reels and on the right of the reels you’ll see and info button, a button that allows you to activate the big win mode of the game and below there’s a spin and an auto spin button.

With the auto spin you can set the reels to spin from ten up to 25 times. As you can see, Red Hot Wild slots quite a straightforward game, although it should be noted that unlike most other slots, this game doesn’t feature a fixed RTP percentage, i.e. your decisions and the options you choose to activate or not can alter the payout percentage. So, you will have higher chances of winning if you select certain options, always bear that in mind. On the other hand, these options also imply that you’ll need to wager more per spin, so if you’re on a lower budget, you might still choose to play with a lower RTP.

How To Win Red Hot Wild

The payout per payline in Red Hot Wild slots depends on your wager. There are five active paylines, all horizontal lines (three) and the two possible diagonal lines. All lines are active at all times and since you need three symbols across a payline for a win, a winning combination must be filled from left to right, or vice versa, there’s no difference in terms of symbol alignment.

As you increase your wager, the amount that is paid out per combination will also increase. If we assume that you play with a wager of 20p per payline or a quid in total, you will win £5 for a combination of three lemons, cherries and oranges, whereas pears and plums pay £8 per combination. If you’re lucky enough to hit watermelons and bars you’ll be awarded £10 per combination, whereas bells pay £20. For a combination of three stars you’ll get £50 and the maximum payout is for a combination of three 7 symbols – £100.

The maximum amount that you can win from a single spin is limited to £250,000. The game features a wild symbol, but it is not a separate symbol, instead you can choose one of the standard symbols that serves as a wild.

Red Hot Wild Bonus Features

Choose Your Wild Symbol

Red Hot Wild slot doesn’t include any standard bonus features, like free spins, but there are few interesting options that can influence not only the gameplay, but also the game RTP. Firstly, you need to select which symbol will play the role of a wild in Red Hot Wild slot. But don’t worry, if you wish to pick another symbol at a later stage you can do so. Actually, you can change the symbol after every spin.

If you choose a more valuable symbol as a wild it will also include a win multiplier and the multiplier for the 7 symbol is x10 but bear in mind that symbols with a higher multiplier are less likely to appear on the reels.

Big Bet

If you wish to increase the standard game RTP you will need to activate the Big Bet option. If you click on the button you will notice that this Red Hot Wild slot option offers two sub-options, the Stepping Wild which increases the RTP to 96% and the Persistent Wild mode which raises the RTP to 98%.
